  • Built in temperature compensation for copper, aluminum, or special alloys.
  • Fast two hour recharge and internal line operated power supplies.
  • Data storage and retrieval capabilities.
  • High compliance active current loops for inductive component measurements (transformers, coils, etc).
  • Special current mode for fast measurements of large transformers.
  • Eight decade auto range or manual operation.
  • Backlite display for low ambient lighting.

The LRMS 5200A is a Digital Micro Ohm Meter that can be used to measure coils, transformers, 3 phase winding balance, armatures, riser connections, circuit breakers, bus bar connections, and weld integrity.

Since the LRMS 5200A is a micro processor controled instrument, it offers features and capabilities not currently found in similar meters. Automatic temperature compensation for various metals can be selected via the front panel TEMPCO function. The processor will then calculate the normalized resistance based on the temperature of the component being measured. Production GO/NOGO testing can be enhanced by using the LIMITS capability of the 5200A. These are only a couple of the features contained in the instrument.

The LRMS can be operated in three different positions: horizontally, vertically, or by using the flip down tilt bail. The instrument is housed in a rugged 16 gauge steel case, and the removable front cover is used for convenient cord and lead storage. Located on the rear of the unit are four power cord-wrap feet for handy power cord storage.

The LRMS uses a microprocessor menu driven method to display operating modes (autorange, manual), range and current, as well as prompts for the operator. Operator prompting reduces the need to constantly refer to the instruction maunual for help. The various functions of the LRMS such as autorange, manual, limits, tempco's, and data storage are selected and entered thru the front panel keypad.

The actual resistance value measured is displayed on the numeric readout. The temperature of the probe is conventionally displayed on the top display and can be selected to display in fahrenheit or celsius. This allows measurement temperature and resistance to displayed at the same time.

The LRMS 5200A is capable of storing resistance and the temperature at which these measurements were taken. The LRMS can store 720 such measurements in 4 different job storage areas (180 / area). Measurements area stored in the internal battery backed up memory and can be recalled at anytime, even months after they were made. These storage areas are very useful for field work, preventative maintenance and engineering.

The operating conditions (range, tempco, limits, etc.) of the LRMS can be assigned and saved in any of 32 setup locations. Setups are a convenient method of storing the operating modes that may be used repetitively by OEM's or preventative maintenance personnel. These setups can be recalled at anytime by the operator thru the recall feature of the LRMS.

The LRMS 5200A is fully portable and utilizes a built-in sealed lead acid cell for power. The battery capacity is monitored and conveniently displayed. The unit also contains an internal line operated power supply that is used to recharge its battery as well as supply power for making measurements while plugged into 120Vac. the LRMS will recharge to 90% capacity in about two hours. This eliminates the 'dead battery' problem incurred with similar instruments. In addition, when operating on battery alone, the LRMS will automatically turn itself off in about 10 minutes if no measurement has been made.

The internal memory is backed up by an inexpensive 3V lithium coin cell which has a nominal life in excess of 3 years. Provisions have been made that allow changing this battery with no loss of any stored data.
